As of lately

We planned a wedding for a cousin. Right outta pinterest, don't ya think?

And all of the reasons I have no money.
Or, all the things I want to buy at work.

But really, how are you supposed to have a paycheck when you're surrounded with this stuff

 And the selfies we took
At the Skin Science Institute

At the Target in the Orem. Or the Provo. I refuse to learn the difference

 And you I like best.

3 months later

Soooooo here we are 3 months since I last posted. Do I feel slightly sheepish about that? yes Nope!

So I suppose I'll give you some bullet points about what you've missed in the last three months. Since bullet point posts are becoming my sweet spot it would seem.

  • Lotttts of drives up the mountain, maybe too many. If that is even a possibility.

  • There's a distinct possibility I met my future husband at the antique store. I'm sure despite the fact his daughter is older than me, and his 3rd wife is still very much in the picture it'll work out. Ha! I've never been more thankful for my mother protecting me from middle aged creepers. Even if they do tell me my eyebrows are like a young Brooke Shields ;)

  • I got hired at Bulloch Drug, my bank account is finally ready to be on speaking terms with me now that I'm not neglecting it. The girls at Bullochs are possibly the cutest, and except the fact that I look really lame in an apron, I'm loving it.

  • While working one night, an older gentleman mistook my turquoise ring for a wedding ring and proceeded to give me some rather....ahem...explicit marital advice. You know, as you do with complete strangers. The next morning, he came to the soda fountain where he informed me that "if he were 35 years younger and didn't live in Vegas, he'd court me". It's nice to know that at least the middle aged and senior citizen community would like to date me. Widens the pool of potential candidates you know ;)

  • It is beyond freezing cold on the mountain in the middle of the night. And keeping people up beyond their bedtimes is rather rude. And that's really all I have to say about that.

  • I toured The Skin Institute in St. George, and am planning on attending in January or February. It's kind of been a surprise to everyone, including me that this is the direction I'm heading buuuuuut we'll just have to wait and see how it all turns out I suppose.

Ketchup? Catch up?

Hi there internet. Hi there blog. Let's get right into the thick of it.
Maybe in bullet points because I really like that sort of thing.

  • The twins graduated from Cedar High School. And we are pleased as punch about that. Joining the adult ranks is really great even if you have to wear silly robes and caps to do it.
  • My dear dear Galaxy passed away, forcing me to grudgingly inherit Shannon's old iphone. Needless to say, I am not impressed. Boo to you iphone.
  • Let me tell you something about YSA wards, first of all I prefer calling them just plain ol singles wards. Or shark tanks. Depending on how snarky I'm feeling. The thing about YSA wards is that they're a real Russian roulette sort of experience. Will I have a regular church experience today? Or will I cringe sooooo hard at the shenanigans that I'm afraid I'll die of second hand embarrassment? It's a real gamble. Fast and Testimony meeting-which I confess I wish was actually fast testimony meeting-is by far the most risky. The last one I was treated to a lengthy discourse by a 'swole bro' who compared lifting and protein powder to prayer and scripture study. I listened in partial shock/awe/utter mortification and looked around for some fellow pew sitter validation that this was in fact weird. Instead I found a myriad of 'bros' nodding sagely at this profound sermon. I think perhaps I am attending the wrong church sometimes.
  • Sometimes well meaning friends give your number to people who supposedly 'you'll just totally love'. Except almost always you find out some minorly horrifying things about this person and wonder if your friends love/respect you at all.
  • If you are looking for a hobby that is equal parts soul crushing and time consuming, I recommend getting bangs and then trying to grow them out again. My middle school emo patronus has never been stronger.
  • Since the cats been let partially out of the bag already, I'll shove the feline the rest of the way out right now. I'm considering going to esthetician school. Maybe. Possibly. Who really even knows at this point. I could ramble on about how I've lost my testimony in the higher education system and the horrors of student debt and lack of job placement in degree field and stuff. But the point is, I have some serious doubts of where and what I'm doing career-wise lately. And much like Utah road construction, it's probably not going to end any time soon.

21 21 21

Despite the Merle Haggard song-and caption on my Instagram birthday selfie- I did not turn 21 in prison doing life without parole. My mother raised me better, which was good of her, even if it did lead to missing out on incarceration on my 21st birthday.
I'm not even really a birthday person, which is a shame and probably a sin that eventually I'll have to repent for. But I'm really not done repenting for judging people that believe in Facebook quizzes, so I'm quite busy in the repentance department.  But anyway, despite my lack of birthday pep-and over all pep really, there's a reason I was never a cheerleader. I'm lacking in pep all over the place- I do get hit with the birthday self reflections. Which is not at all unusual because sometimes just the sun shining a certain way gets me reflecting.
I think as a child I figured 21 was the top of the hill to being over the hill, if ya know what I mean. O-L-D. That's what I'm sayin. Although I also thought I was going to grow up to be a tall long haired princess/waitress. Sooo. My judgement and perspective on the future wasn't exactly accurate.
However, I don't really feel o-l-d. Wildly neurotic, although I suspect that's been there all along and I've just really embraced it, but not o-l-d. I thought I had developed some real cute crows feet, but actually I'd just slept on a rumpled pillow. And also I need my glasses an awful lot more than I ever have which makes me think about going blind young and whether I could live with a seeing eye dog. See? Neurosis as far as the eye can see.
Most of my adulthood-and I use that word verrrrry loosely- years have been a million dollar experience that I wouldn't pay 2 cents to have again. But 20 treated me pretty good I think. 20 was this wild experiment of getting settled into comfort zones of beliefs and people and life goals and having it ripped right out from underneath me. Which sounds unpleasant, and it is, except it's so darn good for you in the end.
But anyway. I turned 21. The twins brought me Dew Shine- do not drink unless you like the idea of fake alcohol tasting soda. Which most sane people do not-and flowers. My mother bought me a dress that is the exact shade of pink I believe Barbie uses in her Malibu dream house, which is wonderful of course. And I received juuuuust enough cat themed things to confirm that, yes, I do need to stop making cat jokes.
So, hi there 21 nice to see you, why don't you stay a while.

Final Final

Twas the day after Earth day-a holiday I wish I knew how to celebrate- and I was walking up the steps to the Braithwaite building 50 pages of a final project in hand. Feeling somewhat guilty for using that many paper, I mean earth day, dead trees....you know. I stuck the huge folder of paper into the professor's box and walked back outside. The sun was shining, birds were singing, children were laughing and dancing around Maypoles. No, really, there was some Shakespeare thing and children were running rampant. But, it was pretty serendipitous and an appropriate scene for finishing the last final.
Spring Semester is officially oooooverrrrr.

-Wasn't that a short and sweet post?-
